10 Most Irritating Subplots In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

1. Thor & Jane's Romance - Thor & Thor: The Dark World

If there's one thing the Thor movies can't get right, it's romance. The first Thor movie was a surprisingly hilarious romp, which perfectly took advantage of the film's brilliant fish-out-of-water appeal, seeing an Asgardian in a coffee shop, enjoying caffeine for the first time. However, the romance between Thor and Jane Foster seemed horrendously tacked on, coming out of nowhere and being overly shoehorned in, when it would have made more sense to just save it for the sequel outright. To be fair, The Dark World did take this criticism on-board, though it still wasn't shot through with adequate conviction, making one wonder why they even bothered in the first place: it's not like the romance is a major concern at all, so it's really just unnecessary and thrown in for the sake of it. Any second of screen time taken up by this mush is pretty much wasted time. Do you disagree with any of these picks? Or did we miss any woefully annoying MCU subplots? Let us know in the comments!
