10 James Bond Fates Worse Than Death

1. Immortality - Baron Samedi (Live And Let Die)

The last we see of Baron Samedi, the enigmatic henchman seen in 1973's Live And Let Die, he is riding the front of a train, laughing maniacally as any good voodoo trickster god should.

It's worth noting, however, that earlier in the film, Samedi had been seemingly shot in the head (yes, he did visibly react to it), and killed by venomous snakes (though his death was conveniently swift). In the one James Bond title that appears to contain numerous genuine supernatural occurrences, it would appear that Samedi himself is invulnerable.

It's not a stretch to imagine that the man is also immortal, given his parallels with a Haitian god. Of course, his maniacal laughter will not last forever. Baron Samedi will outlive us all. He will see the ice caps melt. He will see the gradual extinction of every animal on the planet.

Once drought and fire have ravaged the Earth and nought is left but dust, Baron Samedi will wander the ashen hellscape, unable even to allow himself an end to the loneliness and torment that stretches out in front of him for billions of years.

Immortality is a curse, and Samedi will one day attest to that.
