10 James Bond Fates Worse Than Death

4. Brainwashing - Blofeld's Angels Of Death (On Her Majesty's Secret Service)

Partway through On Her Majesty's Secret Service, James Bond - operating undercover as genealogist Sir Hilary Bray - is introduced to 12 beautiful women in the care of a Swiss clinical research institute suspected to be connected to arch-nemesis Blofeld. Much to his delight, the women begin flirting and fawning over him. They are international patients of the clinic, undergoing experimental treatments for a variety of allergies and phobias.

However, it transpires that these women are being unwittingly brainwashed into releasing bacteriological agents into the world's food supply at Blofeld's behest. Blofeld's aim is to hold the global food supply to ransom in exchange for a pardoning of all his past crimes and...to be recognised as the current Count de Bleuchamp. Or something.

As for these "Angels Of Death", as they are known, the psychological torment brought on by the realisation that they were ultimately responsible for the decimation of the world's food supply (had the plan succeeded) would be immeasurable.

Living with the guilt of having played a part in the deaths of presumably millions of people worldwide is not something anybody would be able to live with.
