10 James Bond Gadgets We Wish Were Real

1. Virtual Combat Training Simulator - Die Another Day

Gadget: Similar to the Danger Room from the X-Men, this simulation enables you to enter a virtual environment, although here it's with the assistance of four computerized columns, a special pair of sunglasses, and a special weapon. Used for training purposes, it's seen early on where Bond is sneaking around MI6, after it's come under attack. Moneypenny is later seen using it for something less tactical - a romantic rendezvous with 007 atop her desk. Real World Application: Where to begin? The way I see it, this would evolve in one of two ways: Inception dream machine & Star Trek's holodeck. Aside from the obvious use of training soldiers and other law enforcement (the stated origin of the dream sharing technology in Inception), there's the entire entertainment realm to consider. As seen in Die Another Day, this technology is some pretty bad ass virtual reality, and if money was no object there would be one of these in every house eventually. Video games would finally complete their transformation into playable movies, and no living room would every need another couch. I suppose if you really needed to sit though, you could always just load up a couch simulation, in a cool locale. Like Mars. Or The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Or a living room with a couch. So there you have it - 10 Great Bond Gadgets We Wish Were Real. Disagree? Agree? Did I leave out your favorite gadget, or do you miss the cars and weapons? Feel free to leave a comment below to let me know if you liked the list, or if you think I should quit writing all together and think of something better to do. Anyone know if MI6 is hiring?
