10 Jaw-Dropping Movie Monsters We All Loved To Watch

9. The Blob - The Blob (1958)

The Blob may well be the single most ridiculous, simple movie monster there has ever been. It is exactly what it sounds like it is. It looks very much like someone has put a load of raspberries in a cellophane bag and smushed it around a bit. And yes, compared to a great deal of modern creations, the Blob is probably somewhat laughable, and the film itself may have aged, but that doesn't make it any less eerie.

Put yourself in the shoes of any of the potential victims of the Blob. A mysterious, giant ball of goo slowly crawling towards you, consuming and absorbing anything in the way, and there's seemingly nothing that can even slow it down, never mind stop it.

Yes, the Blob thoroughly deserves a place here because of that very same ridiculousness; the scariest of monsters can quite often be the ones that look easy to get away from. But just you try and act all calm and collected when 30ft of goop starts seeping through your doorway...
