10 Killer Last Lines In Horror Movie History
9. "Wait, Wait, Wait." - Don't Look Now
Just one word, uttered three times, but the final line of Nicolas Roeg's classic chiller has a big impact.
The finale of Don't Look Now is remembered for its visual elements, most notably the unforgettable image of the dwarf in the red raincoat. The final words uttered by John, however, are undeniably creepy, partly because they're so futile. He pleads with his attacker to wait, but she simply shakes her head before slashing his neck.
John also seems to be asking for time to make sense of what's happening to him. He appears to be experiencing a realisation that the warning signs of his demise have been right in front of his eyes, and he has failed to heed them.
His death is now an inevitability; it has already been foretold. He has even witnessed his own funeral, without realising at the time that the sight of his wife dressed in black was in fact a premonition.
