10 Last-Minute Replacements If Ben Affleck Quits The Batman
7. Frank Grillo
If you want your Batman to be grizzled and world-weary with a sideline in dry humor then look no further; Frank Grillo is your man. Despite not getting his big break in Hollywood until his mid-40's, the last few years have seen Grillo firmly establish himself as a confident and commanding presence on our screens.
At 51 he may be no spring chicken but remains in incredible shape, and with decades' worth of training in amateur wrestling, boxing, martial arts and MMA he could definitely kick your ass. Although he secured the relatively high-profile role of Crossbones in the Captain America franchise, the fact that he was blown up in the opening scene of Civil War seemingly leaves no doubts about his availability. But could he convince as the Dark Knight?
The current big-screen version of Batman is broken, beaten and scarred from years of cleaning up the streets of Gotham and Grillo would have no trouble bringing a 'seen it all, done it all, got the t-shirt' vibe to the character. Even more interesting would be his take on pampered playboy Bruce Wayne, with his effortlessly natural acting style and lived-in features suggesting something entirely different from what's been done before.
