The world premiere for A Quiet Place Part II has already taken place, but it was shortly after that event in early March that Paramount Pictures decided to push the horror sequel from its March 20th release date. They had no choice given what was happening at the time, and it ended up being moved to September 4th, later this year.

Unfortunately, that's now changed yet again, with the studio pretty much deciding that 2020 is a write-off by pushing John Krasinski's movie to April 23rd, 2021. The first instalment found great success in a similar slot in 2018, grossing over $340 million on a reported $17 million - $21 million budget.

Among the first major releases of this year to be postponed in response to current world events, A Quiet Place Part II slipping into 2021 feels like something of a defeat, and not a decision the studio is likely to have made lightly considering the fact their marketing spend has been well and truly used up by this point. With any luck, they'll find other ways to rebuild hype for this one next year.
