Initially, this movie was supposed to be a spoof; a parody on spy, gangster and monster movies of that time. As such, it could have been regarded as a pretty decent comedy, but its producer changed his mind during the shooting and wanted a real horror movie instead. Oh the irony. The story follows some dude who is trying to pick treasure up from the bottom of the sea. To stop the others from getting to it before him, he and his crew make up a story about a terrifying monster that attacks people trying to get to the gold. Little does he know that the monster is 'real', and will get to his people before he gets the treasure. There are some spy movie references thrown in for good measure, some mobsters appear at one point, but nothing happens that could redeem this flick. The final product is graced with a junkie version of the Cookie Monster, actors trying to remain serious while laughing inside and some weapons-grade dialogue. The only thing keeping this movie from being even worse is a couple of pretty good jokes that don't fit in the whole trying-to-be-serious-but-failing-miserably undertone it has.
