10 Laziest Animated Films Of All Time
8. Chicken Little (2005)
In the beginning of the 21st century, we saw the rise of computer animated movies in studios such as Pixar and Dreamworks, both of which were becoming more popular than the classic Disney animated studios, which still used the traditional hand-drawn medium for their films. Being the lesser company at the time, they wanted to fit in with the latest trends and thus, we were given Chicken Little.
Chicken Little feels like one big opposition to all the Disney movies that came before it. It’s extremely mean spirited and passes off bullying as being funny. The storyline seems to switch from one focus to another, whether it’s the sky falling or Chicken Little’s new found talent as a baseball player. The script obviously took ideas from Dreamworks because the film is rife with bad pop culture references.
Moreover, this was Disney’s first ever CGI animated movie but the aesthetic is filled with drab colours and very basic world building. The directors obviously rushed this project because they wanted to be part of the computer animated industry as soon as possible. Disney did nail CGI movies eventually with future features, such as Tangled and Zootopia, but Chicken Little now feels like a mere prototype of these more successful ventures.
