10 Least Accurate Movie Portrayals Of Comic Book Characters Ever

9. Aquaman

Catwoman Halle Berry

Historically, Aquaman has always been a relatively goofy character in the comic books, especially compared to the likes of Batman. He never helmed particularly serious, grounded stories, and his fishy powers were not exactly impressive. Aquaman's reputation only plummeted when he appeared in the kid-friendly Hanna-Barbara cartoons, and it got to the point where everyone collectively decided that the King of Atlantis was lame, with comedy show Robot Chicken really taking this idea to the next level.

As one of Zack Snyder's only good character decisions, Aquman went from being the punchline of the joke, to a bonafide badass. With Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa landing the role, the hero quickly reversed the laughable image pop culture had created for the character. Whilst promoting his solo film in 2018, the actor said to Screen Rant, " Zack [Snyder] wanted to make him a badass, wanted to make him an outlaw, wanted him to be not accepted by anyone." Momoa continued, saying Aquaman is a "reluctant hero" who is "flawed, [a] rascal. Just all this stuff I find very attractive."

Aquaman is definitely one of the rare instances where a considerable deviation from the source material was a good idea, and the character can proudly say he's no longer a joke.
