10 Legacy Horror Movie Sequels Everyone Actually Wants To See
1. Alien
In 2015, Neill Blomkamp was all set to write and direct an Alien sequel, which would serve as a direct follow-up to Aliens. When sci-fi fans saw concept artwork for Alien 5 (which was technically Alien 3 Again), it blew our minds. With Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn set to return, it looked like this proposed instalment could get the franchise back on track.
Sadly, these plans fell apart. Instead, we got Alien: Covenant. Not only was Ridley Scott's unwanted sequel absolutely rubbish, it decanonised key elements in the franchise, ruining the Alien lore.
This decision was a colossal waste, since Blomkamp's proposed sequel had so many fascinating avenues it could've gone down. What if Ripley was forced to come out of retirement after the Xenomorphs return? Maybe Weyland-Yutani Corp hired Hicks to train a military squad to prepare for the extra-terrestrial invasion. How about a movie where Ripley has spent decades training her stepdaughter, Newt, to fight the aliens?
Although there are no rumblings of a sequel, a studio might give it a shot, since Ridley Scott's Alien follow-ups have stalled.
