10 Legacy Horror Movie Sequels Everyone Actually Wants To See

2. Nightmare On Elm Street

Wrong Turn
New Line Cinema

Because the reboot of A Nightmare On Elm Street turned out so badly, you can understand why Wes Craven's beloved franchise has languished in limbo for over a decade.

However, a great way to enliven the series is to back to basics. Simply put, we need a direct continuation of the original, with Robert Englund reprising the role of Freddy Krueger.

But that's not all. Because Freddy is such an icon, it's easy to forget about the franchise's first final girl, Nancy. Wes Craven hated how women in horror were characterised as idiots, and so, made a conscious effort to depict Nancy more progressively. Rather than relying on dumb luck, Nancy defeated Freddy through misdirection, strategy, logic, and patience.

As Nancy was Freddy's greatest adversary, it would be great to see Heather Langenkamp return in a sequel. (She may have died in A Nightmare On Elm Street 3, but the filmmakers can just pull a Halloween and pretend that never happened.)

Since Nancy has dealt with Freddy before, it would be cool if she mentored a new heroine, teaching her how to control her dreams, so she can vanquish her tormentor.
