10 Legendary Rock Songs That Were Used Perfectly In Movies
7. Lust for Life - Iggy Pop
The entire journey to even get the soundtrack to Trainspotting seemed like a bit of a mess. Aside from just the usual licensing rights to get these songs used in the movies, you also had people refusing to contribute songs for the movie, including Noel Gallagher who thought the movie would be boring based on the title alone. For what we eventually got though, this is the kind of music that makes you feel like you've crawled out of the gutter.
Throughout the entire movie, you practically feel like you're on a contact high with the rest of the cast, going through the city and finding ways to score some sort of thrill no matter where you go. So when you're wandering the streets like a madman, it's probably best to have an actual madman soundtracking you, and Lust For Life feels seedy from the moment that it starts. While Iggy Pop has never been known as a Freddie Mercury type or anything, the kind of sleazy quality of his voice makes this kind of lifestyle all the more appealing when you see it on screen.
Granted, there is a bit of irony in the song though, with Iggy being newly sober and trying his best to get high on life without the need for drugs in his veins anymore. If you hit on just the right kind of groove though, you can hit upon something that sounds like pure anarchy.
