10 Legendary Rock Songs That Were Used Perfectly In Movies
4. Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
No real action movie is complete without having some sort of kickass fight scene at some point. Even with all of the fantastic score that comes with big budget movies, rock has always lent itself well to brawls, from Don't Stop Me Now in Shaun of the Dead to Metallica's version of Whiskey In the Jar being the greatest bar fight song that's ever been written. Things tend to be on the heavier side of rock and roll for scenes like this, but Southern rock can get the job done just as well.
Throughout the church scene in the first Kingsman film, you get the feeling that something is going to go down with Colin Firth...you just don't know what it is yet. Once Valentine's chips are activated though, hearing the solos from Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird is the ideal backdrop for beating the snot out of these people, as Harry single handedly takes out all of them in one go. Since this action scene is one long take, you also get to hear most of the track play out, with every single solo clashing in on each other before Harry is the only one left standing.
For those first watching it, it's almost disorienting to see all at once, almost like you're riding along with Harry and trying your best to come out of this church in one piece as well. Many action scenes may just work in the context of the story, but this one scene alone could practically be prescribed as a pure adrenaline rush every time you see it.
