10 Lesser Known Horror Movies That Are 100% Worth Your Time

6. Spring

Drafthouse Films

Spring is the film that well and truly put indie horror wunderkinds Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead on the map - a genre-bending romantic body horror film in which a young American man travels to Italy and embarks on a whirlwind romance with a woman who isn't quite what she first seems.

What a strange, wonderful, romantic, constantly surprising film this is, and one you're advised to watch without looking at the trailer first.

Lou Taylor Pucci and Nadia Hilker give phenomenal performances as the uniquely challenged star-crossed lovers, while Benson and Moorhead do a fantastic job of juggling the competing genre elements.

Aptly described as a hybrid of Richard Linklater and H.P. Lovecraft, Spring does what most truly great horrors do - it never forgets the beating human heart at the core of its story, while still getting wild with its more heightened elements.

This is one of those movies that makes it instantly crystal clear the filmmakers are going to go far - and that they certainly have.
