5. Sleep Tight
Sleep Tight is one sick puppy of a movie - a nauseatingly creepy 2011 psychological horror from [REC] director Jaume Balagueró, starring the great Luis Tosar as the concierge of an apartment building who gets a kick out of interfering with the residents' privacy, and then some.
Without going into the skin-crawling particulars of where the story goes - because you're better off just seeing it for yourself - Sleep Tight is a wonderfully unique riff on the typical home invasion movie and suffused with an almost Hitchcockian level of suspense throughout.
It's certainly not for the faint of heart given some of the queasier activities Tosar's villain gets up to, but his outstanding performance in the lead role can't be missed - it's hypnotically terrifying enough that you might even illogically view the actor himself with an air of suspicion forever more.
Despite receiving strong reviews upon initial release, Sleep Tight did the rounds at horror festivals and then basically evaporated into obscurity. A thoroughly unearned fate for a deliciously unhinged piece of work.
