6. There's No Cannibalism - Bones & All

The first teaser trailer for Luca Guadagnino's romantic horror film Bones and All knew exactly what it was doing when it aggressively downplayed the fact that the protagonists - played by Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet - are in fact cannibals.

Though the trailer shows enough images of the duo covered in blood, the trailer is edited to imply that they're a pair of Bonnie and Clyde-esque killers on the run - perhaps more akin to Natural Born Killers' Mickey and Mallory Knox, in fact.

If you weren't aware this was a cannibal movie before watching the trailer, it made no effort at all to persuade you. In fact, it was clearly trying to secure interest from viewers who might otherwise be turned off by a horror-romance about people eating each other.

Thankfully MGM did play things a little fairer with the final theatrical trailer, which was in no way ambiguous about the movie's premise. That original teaser, however, desperately wanted to pretend Bones and All was simply an erotic, blood-soaked road movie.
