10 A-List Actors Yet To Appear In A Comic Book Movie (And Who They Could Play)

3. Leonardo DiCaprio: Eddie Brock/Venom

This one relates back to when DiCaprio was seen as the front runner to play Spidey back in the post-Titanic Leomania years. In this context it has a nice symmetry to think of DiCaprio as an older embittered and failed version of Peter Parker, who missed his shot. One of the best things about Sam Raimi€™s iteration of Brock was that he attempted something with the Brock/Venom character which interested him in a way that deviated from the comic version. The Brock of Spider-Man 3 isn't the hulking, blue-collar, body-builder/photographer of the comic books, but more Peter Parker's mirror image: A dark doppelgänger who is one molecule removed from Parker. Having an actor of DiCaprio€™s chops tackling the role in a similar way with the added €œage factor€ would be an incredibly exciting approach. Whether he would do it is another matter but the time could be right, as can be seen from his performance in Django Unchained he is entering the phase of his career where his choice of roles is diversifying to include villains, and having him portray the Anti-Spidey would be a great addition to his oeuvre.
