10 Little Known Facts About Your Favourite Christmas Films

10. Patrick Stewart Recorded An Opening That Was Eventually Cut - The Nightmare Before Christmas

If the viral spread of the Star Trek: The Next Generation mashup of Captain Picard singing Make It So (to the tune of Let It Snow) is anything to go by it seems if there€™s one thing more universally adored than Christmas it€™s Patrick Stewart. But this latest trend isn't the first time the two met; Stewart lent his dulcet tones to Tim Burton and Henry Selick for an unused introduction to The Nightmare Before Christmas. Bookending the film, these were set to accentuate the film€™s fairy tale goals. Imagine how Stewart€™s narration was in Ted, only played slightly straighter with added whimsy. Ironically, it€™s the thing that makes this so enticing that made it not happen. Stewart€™s voice is so immediately identifiable that test audiences spent more time mumbling amongst themselves at how cool is was Captain Picard was providing narration for the film than they did actually feasting their eyes on the animation. Naturally this meant it had to be cut (along with an epilogue that was just silly without the intro), but as recompense the recording did make its way onto the soundtrack (and is in fact still on releases to this day).
