10 Long-Awaited Film Adaptations Which Can't Get Off The Ground

3. Good Omens

Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman are two of the biggest names in contemporary fantasy, so if you haven't read their collaborative 1990 novel Good Omens, you're missing out. It's a whimsical comedy about the biblical end of days, and fans were ecstatic when it was announced that Terry Gilliam would be directing a film adaptation in 2002. The script was apparently already completed, but the project gradually disappeared as Gilliam moved on and funding diminished. In February this year, Gilliam insisted to The Playlist that he was still interested in a Good Omens film or television series, and tormented us with the revelation that Johnny Depp was once attached. Gaiman has already said in multiple interviews that Gilliam was always the only man for the job, and also pointedly added last summer in an interview with The Daily Beast that "we would like to see it happen while Terry can still see it". Fingers crossed for this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hv7VB2A75Q
