10 Long-Awaited Movie Moments That Failed To Live Up To The Hype

5. The Bride Vs. Bill - Kill Bill, Vol. 2

Kill Bill Quentin Tarantino's bloody revenge tale about a retired assassin who is shot by her former boss and lover and left for dead (on her wedding day, no less!) promised us from the very beginning what we all thought might be the greatest final battle of all time when the story finished: after all, the movies are called Kill Bill. And although Tarantino manages to make Kill Bill a little more emotionally resounding than you might have expected for a movie where a character plucks out another character's eye, we were all prepped for an epic final battle of bloody proportions. That's to say, when we finally get to Bill's beachside apartment, Tarantino decides that it's time to ramp up the drama and put the fightin' aside for a minute. Okay, we get it: building tension. After half an hour of talking and lazy Tarantino analogies, though, it was time to deliver on the promise of the movie's title - and after nearly three hours of watching the Bride exact her vengeance, it better be good. And although Bill suggests that he and the Bride go down to the beach to cut each other up with swords at dawn, Tarantino opts for a simple, 13-second fight sequence. It's slick and it even makes sense, but it sure as hell disappointed everyone who laid eyes on it.
