Big Trouble in Little China may have initially tanked at the box office in 1986, but it has gone on to become almost the living embodiment of a cult favorite, and while it might not rank as John Carpenter's best movie, it is certainly his most beloved.

A gloriously absurd B-movie with mystical trappings, Big Trouble in Little China lovingly subverts and pokes fun at everything from Westerns to kung fu epics, all anchored by a never-more-charismatic Kurt Russell as the iconic Jack Burton. If fans had campaigned for sequels back then like they do now, then this would have definitely been at the top of the list.

However, fans were outraged when it was first revealed in 2015 that Dwayne Johnson's Seven Bucks were developing a remake, with Johnson set to star and admitting that he'd love to get Carpenter involved in some capacity, with Thor and X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz set to work on the script.

While it has since been revealed that the project is actually a sequel to the original and not a remake, even with the biggest star in the business involved, there's literally no reason to make a sequel to Big Trouble in Little China sequel. Luckily, Johnson seems to be so busy with a typically-packed schedule that there's a high chance it'll never get past the development stage anyway.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
