10 Long-Awaited Movie Sequels That Will Literally Never Get Made
5. Beverly Hills Cop IV
Rave reviews for his lead performance in Dolemite Is My Name may have firmly set Eddie Murphy back on the comeback trail, but Beverly Hills Cop has been through so many false starts that there's not much chance of it ever getting made at this point.
We haven't seen Axel Foley on our screens since 1994, and despite planning to have the fourth installment in theaters at some point by the end of the decade, over 25 years have passed and we've still not gotten any closer. At one point the movie was locked in for a March 2016 release before it was pulled, while a TV pilot focusing on Foley's son was never picked up for air.
Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are currently attached to the long-gestating sequel, and the only sliver of light at the end of the tunnel is that Netflix recently purchased the option to make Beverly Hills Cop IV, with the streaming giant's apparent bottomless pit of money the only thing that could drag the project out of three decades stuck in development hell.
