10 Longest Gaps Between Superhero Movie Appearances
2. Doctor Octopus/Alfred Molina - Spider-Man 2 To Spider-Man: No Way Home (17 Years)
"Hello, Peter."
And just like that, the entire world thoroughly lost its cool... and subsequently was given months of meme-fuel.
In all seriousness, though, seeing Alfred Molina rock up in the closing stages of the long-awaited No Way Home trailer very nearly broke the internet. And for good reason. Long since classed as one of the finest supervillains ever brought to the big screen, and at the very least the greatest Spidey cinematic nemesis, fans had been crying out to see Molina dust off his mechanical tentacles for one more round with the wall-crawler.
Reports had been doing the rounds that Molina had been spotted on-set, and the actor himself even let the cat out of the bag during an interview earlier in the year. But that still didn't stop jaws hitting the floor with the reveal of a Doctor Octopus, in the goddamn MCU, that looked like he hadn't aged a day since 2004's Spider-Man 2.
A return 17-years in the making will finally be realised in December, along with what also looks like the re-emergence of a certain iconic Goblin last played by Willem Dafoe in the third Sony Spidey flick.
