10 Longest Gaps Between Superhero Movie Appearances
8. Phil Coulson/Clark Gregg - The Avengers To Captain Marvel (Seven Years)
Now, let's get this out of the way early. We're well aware that Agent Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, had quite the life away from the MCU's big screen offerings in the wake of being dispatched by Loki in 2012's Avengers Assemble. But as we're strictly talking about the longest gaps between movie appearances here, his spell away between the first Avengers flick and Captain Marvel most definitely counts.
Coming during the MCU prequel that was our introduction to all things Carol Danvers in 2019, a younger, much greener Agent Coulson winds up getting tangled up in the drama surrounding Nick Fury and the unknown entity by the name of Vers.
Instead of opting to bring in the pair as they fled a S.H.I.E.L.D. force who were convinced Fury had gone rogue, however, Coulson decided to trust his instincts and go against an order to take the future Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. dead or alive.
It was awesome getting to see a version of the character that was a long way from the all-seeing and no-nonsense force that initially brought The Avengers together, and marked the first time in seven years that Coulson had made his way onto the big screen.
