10 Major Comic Book Conflicts We Expect To See In Future Marvel Movies

3. Thanos Vs The Universe (Infinity Gauntlet)

Having collected the Infinity Gems in the €œThanos Quest€ story arc, Thanos mounted them on the Infinity Gauntlet at the start of this arc and set about taking on the entire Marvel universe - which he was more than capable of doing because, with the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos had complete mastery over every single aspect of the multiverse, as each individual gem (or stone as they are called in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) grants complete control over one of them. Those universal aspects being time, space, mind, soul, reality and power.

This particular arc is as good as confirmed to happen in the third Avengers movie, as Thanos is already known to be pursuing these powerful items in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the comic book arc, in order to impress Mistress Death, Thanos chose to offer the cosmic entity a gift of love by completing a task she had given him €“ erasing half the sentient life in the universe, which he does, quite literally, with a snap of his fingers.

In one issue of the arc - The Infinity Gauntlet #4 - whilst wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, the godly-empowered Mad Titan easily defeated Iron Man, Vision, Thor II (Eric Masterson), Starfox, Namor, Quasar, She-Hulk, Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Drax the Destroyer, Firelord, Nova, Cloak, Cyclops and Doctor Doom. Although not all of those characters are in - or able to be in - the Marvel Cinematic Universe, seeing Thanos doing the same with the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, some villains and whoever else has emerged in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by the time of the third Avengers movie would be superb.

In the final showdown with Captain America, prior to killing him, he had the power to smash his otherwise unbreakable shield with a single blow and was making the ground itself hold Captain America in place. That one scene would be worth making this movie, as Captain America's bravery is nothing short of awe-inspiring, but the large scale battles where Thanos easily takes on all comers with ease would be pretty damn spectacular as well.
