10 Major Concept Changes That Almost Happened In Comic Book Movies

4. Robin Was Almost A Street-Smart Black Kid

Robin Wayans Batman Forever - which was, of course, the first of two Batman films directed by Joel Schumacher - was originally intended to be the third Batman film directed by Tim Burton after Batman and Batman Returns. However, due to the comparative box office failure of Batman Returns, Schumacher was brought in to vamp up the franchise and Burton was relegated to being a producer. In Burton's original vision for the movie, Robin was going to be a street-smart black kid and Marlon Wayans was actually signed on to portray the Boy Wonder - in fact, he even costume tested for the role, such was the extent of his commitment to it. Of course, Robin was portrayed by Chris O'Donnell in both Batman Forever and Batman and Robin and, thanks to a terrible portrayal, we can't help wondering if Wayans actually would have been a better choice.
