10 Major Movie Characters Given Nothing To Do In The Sequel

2. Hope Van Dyne - Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania

Given that her name is literally in the movie's title, it was a reasonable expectation that Hope van Dyne aka The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) would have a major, meaningful role in the third Ant-Man movie.

And yet, Wasp ends up feeling like a tagalong for almost the entirety of the threequel, such that it's tough to remember a single memorable line or thing she does, outside of briefly helping Scott (Paul Rudd) defeat Kang (Jonathan Majors) at the very end.

Ultimately it felt far more like the Wasp of the title actually referred to Hope's mother Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), who has a more substantial, upfront role.

Hell, Hope's blatant sidelining felt aggressive enough that some fans even suggested Evangeline Lilly's role could've been reduced during post-production due to her controversial social media posts.

Though that hasn't been formally confirmed, it's baffling all the same that a character given a strong coming-out party in the second Ant-Man film felt like such a feckless afterthought in this sequel.
