This highly-publicised rift between Christian Bale and cinematographer Shane Hurlbert left the Batman and American Pyscho star deeply embarrassed, not to mention displayed that it seemed to be Bale, rather than ill-fated director McG, who was calling the shots on-set.

Hurlbert made the criminal mistake of walking in the background whilst Bale was in a scene. What followed was nothing less than a phenomenon of a rant. The audio recording, released to Warner Bros's insurers for consideration in the event of a Bale walkout, was subsequently leaked online, and spawned YouTube parodies and dance remixes with Bale's declaration of "you and me, we're done professionally," ‘Ohhhhh, goooood for you’’ and ‘ah-da-da-dah;’ particularly ripe for satire.

The actor swiftly gave a public apology, stating he’d ‘acted like a punk.' Now, in fairness, Bale is probably angry that he ever signed up to the film in the first place, a situation made immeasurably worse with McG at the directorial helm. The franchise well and truly crashed with this film. In fact, this poetic outburst is perhaps its only single redeeming feature. It’s certainly the most intense rant in movie history and many find it the most humorous too.
