2. David O Russell Vs Lily Tomlin, I Heart Huckabees (2004)
David O Russell is back again, giving one of the all-time great director outbursts at the unfortunate Lily Tomlin.
In an immortal scene, Tomlin starts complaining about not knowing how to deliver her lines. She tells Russell ‘not everyone is as brilliant as you’ and boy does that line fester. Russell soon goes in to complete meltdown, hurling the world’s harshest expletives at Tomlin, destroying the set, hurling papers off the desk, kicking trash cans and generally ensuring his place in the Pantheon of the Top Ten Hissy-Fits.
Russell will never live this one down. Since it was all captured, the video went truly viral and provides endless schadenfreude for those who like to see their actors being yelled at or their director’s making fools of themselves.
