Finn received combat training as a First Order Stormtrooper, but being able to handle a lightsaber in combat requires Jedi-like skills. Hes able to duel with Kylo Ren after very little practice wielding Anakins lightsaber. Finn is noble enough to turn against the First Order in search of doing whats right. True, he falters when he leaves Rey behind, but this is a decision he regrets and ultimately rectifies. His character is reminiscent of Luke from A New Hope: young, inexperienced, and hopeful for the future. Maz sees fear in his eyes just as Yoda saw fear in Luke's. Whatever flaws Finn may have, it can be counted on that he will ultimately do whats best for the Resistance. He can train to be a Jedi if thats whats asked of him or he can join Poe Dameron as an X-Wing fighter pilot if hes not meant to become a Jedi. How Finn will fit into the next two movies remains to be seen, yet training to become a Jedi isnt outside the realm of possibility. At the beginning of The Force Awakens Kylo Ren takes pause when he sees Finn (then trooper FN-2187) on Jakku. Does he sense another Force-sensitive individual?
