10 Major Resolutions For DC Movies In 2017

8. Drop The Messiah Imagery

Batman Meet The Family
Warner Bros.

We get it, Superman is a bit like Jesus. It's been done and said enough now and it's horribly reductive for actually adding some human depth to the character. He's not just a symbol - that's absolutely not the point of Superman - and continually banging the super-Jesus drum makes it rather hard to really connect with that real complexity.

Unfortunately, Superman's impending return from the grave will no doubt be spun like Easter Sunday and we'll get even more on the nose imagery of him (particularly as he'll apparently have long hair and a beard this time too), but let it go no further.

Making Superman a God is as bad as making Batman a bland action hero without any idea of the importance of his symbolism, and it's getting incredibly hard to have any patience with the same subtle-as-a-sledge-hammer imagery.
