The power of Thanos whilst he was wielding the Infinity Gauntlet in the arc of the same name was so great that the abstract cosmic entities of the Marvel universe were forced to team-up to combat his universal-level threat threat. Although Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe probably wont possess the same universal reality-warping ability that he did in the comics - the power levels of pretty much everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe compared to their comic book counterparts are considerably watered-down - he will surely still require more than just the typical superheroes to take him down. Cue the emergence of the cosmic conglomerate. It is extremely unlikely that the same group of cosmic beings will come together on screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Galactus isnt even owned by Marvel Studios and some of the other entities present would just seem ridiculous in a movie), but we now know that Celestials exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so seeing them, for example, and some other powerful beings coming together to discuss their concerns about Thanos would definitely convey exactly what level of threat the movie heroes were up against.
