10 Marvel Comic Storylines That Need To Be Put On Film

7. Red Zone

The last truly great Avengers story published by Marvel Comics was Geoff Johns€™ Red Zone. A mysterious cloud devastates the midwest, infecting anyone caught within with a lethal virus, and the Avengers are brought in to investigate. Through the course of the investigation, the team comes upon a revelation that shakes Captain America to his core€”the Red Zone was created by the United States.

The architect of the disease and the crisis was Dell Rusk, the Secretary of Defense. When confronted, Rusk pulls off his face to reveal that he is actually the Red Skull and has infiltrated the United States government, claiming that freedom must feel fear and that fear would lead to absolute control. The Skull believed that America had the right attitudes already in place, it just needed a push in the right direction. He engineered the disease to scapegoat a country of his choosing€”Wakanda.

Red Zone featured some truly memorable moments, such as the Skull preparing to salute the American flag when Cap hurls his shield, telling him he€™d better not dare salute that flag. Or when the Black Panther tears off his gloves and tells the Skull that he's going to break his jaw.

The story could be handled in a Cap film or in an Avengers film. Not only does it have some truly great moments for characters like Cap, T€™Challa and the Falcon, but it would also mark the return of the Red Skull to the MCU.
