10 Marvel Comic Storylines That Need To Be Put On Film
6. Annihilation
After years of being dormant, the Annihilation event finally revived Marvel Comics cosmic side in a very big way. The villainous Annihilus enters the universe through the Crunch, the part of space where the Negative Zone and the Marvel Universe meet. The Annihilation Wave is Annihilus armada of warships that first destroys the Nova Corps. Annihilus plans to use Galactus as a weapon and Thanos allies himself with the mad despot, but only out of curiosity and later attempts to betray him. Annihilation featured many of Marvels most popular cosmic heroessuch as the Silver Surfer and Novaand also brought spotlight to some of the lesser-known cosmic characters, like Star-Lord. We may not have ever gotten a Guardians of the Galaxy movie if not for the Annihilation event. Of all the stories on this list, Annihilation is probably the most difficult one to adapt. The rights to Galactus and the Silver Surfer, two key characters in the story, are held by Fox with the Fantastic Four rights. Annihilus is another character mostly associated with the Fantastic Four, so it may be likely that Fox holds the rights to him as well. There was a second Annihilation crossover, Annihilation: Conquest that featured Ultron commanding the Phalanx. The Phalanx also may be owned by Fox, as they premiered as X-Men villains. Maybe Marvel Studios can combine aspects of Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest, replacing unavailable characters with others.
