10 Marvel Organisations That Should Appear In The MCU
8. SWORD
The Sentient World Observation and Response Department or SWORD first appeared in the X-Men comics, but it has since expanded to the rest of the Marvel Universe. The purpose of SWORD is to deal with extraterrestrial threats, and now that the Earth of the MCU has seen two alien invasions (one in The Avengers and one in Thor: The Dark World), it seems as good a time as any for the World Security Council to come up with some sort of response. And now with Guardians of the Galaxy, were starting to explore the cosmic side of the MCU. Plus, as a bonus, SWORD has been referenced in Thor: The Dark World. In addition to Abigail Brand, the Director of SWORD, a few other characters have been associated with the organization. There have been rumours of bringing Carol Danvers into the MCU, and SWORD would be the perfect backdrop for that, in addition to Spider-Woman. Oh, and as a bonus, the writer who first created SWORD and introduced them into the Marvel Comics Universe? None other than Joss Whedon himself.
