10 Marvel Superheroes For Phase 4 (And Who Should Play Them)

6. Kate Bishop - Aubrey Plaza

Kate Bishop is another version of Hawkeye, who has made a big impression as a millennial take on the traditional hero. With a big chip on her shoulder (thanks to her rich parents), and lacking any actual superpowers, this young woman first became a hero by helping the Young Avengers diffuse a party-gone-violently-wrong situation. When the grown-up Avengers told the Young Avengers to quit, it was Kate that encouraged them to stick together. Without a codename, she kept fighting alongside them until Jessica Jones granted her the Hawkeye identity (at this stage, Clint Barton was out of the game). Clint (the character played by Jeremy Renner in the films) eventually returned, leading him and Kate to form a charming mentor-mentee partnership, with the older Hawkeye acting as a grumpy, sarcastic sage to his determined new apprentice. Kate later span-out into her own series, and sporadically found work as a hero for hire. You€™d need someone young, likeable and in possession of killer comic timing to pull this one off (Kate cracks wise and bickers with Clint constantly). Aubrey Plaza of Parks And Recreation, Safety Not Guaranteed and Life After Beth would be perfect. Perhaps Renner could pass the Hawkeye mantle onto her if Clint is going to retire from superheroics (as hinted in Age Of Ultron).
