9. The Skrulls (Led By Eddie Marsan)
The Skrulls are shape-shifting alien antagonists of the Secret Invasion series, a sprawling crossover that followed Civil War in the comics. They infiltrated the Avengers by impersonating superheroes, and initially seemed to conquer the globe with the relative ease. Of course, they were eventually stopped, but it proved to be a tough, memorable challenge for Earths Mightiest Heroes. Again, though, the cinematic rights to the Skrulls are a little complicated. Although theyve tussled with the Avengers many times, their close links to the Fantastic Four mean that Fox have the rights. By the time we reach Phase 4, that hopefully will have changed, allowing Marvel Studios to plot their own Secret Invasion crossover event. Casting a shape-shifter is a difficult business. Of course, the Skrulls would wear many familiar faces if they ever showed up in the MCU. They would impersonate whoever they needed to in order to amass power. However, a few talented actors would be needed to play their true, green, alien form. Although he might take it as an insult, Eddie Marsan seems like a good choice. With his smarmy charm, he could tackle the sneering sliminess of a Skrull in his sleep. Helena Bonham Carter thanks to her impressive CV of creepy characters - could be an interesting choice for a Skrull general, as well.
