2001: A Space Odyssey What happened in the film was a crazy - or logical - AI tried to kill a man who was on a long distance interstellar mission to Jupiter. How many things are wrong with the previous statement? Too many. Sorry Stanley, you are a legendary film director the like of which may never walk this Earth again, but you need to sort out your calender, pal. 2001 seemed like a long way away back then, of course, and the space race was in full swing. Everyone assumed that it would go on until the human species reached every corner of the Universe; how could they have known that we have yet to step foot any further than the moon? Artificial Intelligence hasn't been fully realised yet either and lastly, we haven't found any Alien monoliths on the Moon, at least probably not...
