5. Is Deckard A Replicant? - Blade Runner

Skyfall M Real Name
Warner Bros.

Since the whole subtext of Blade Runner is about questioning identity, it’s not a shocker fans have speculated on Deckard’s humanity since it came out. After all, his eyes are briefly seen glowing in that replicant way, and the origami unicorn sure hints that Gaff knows what he dreams about.

The arguments for and against raged for years and both sides were equally compelling. Interestingly, Ford was violently opposed to the idea. He felt Deckard had to be human since the audience needed a flesh and blood character to follow.

Ridley Scott kept his true intentions to himself for two decades, only to reveal in a 2000 documentary that yes, the unicorn proves Deckard is a replicant. Despite the director himself stating this, fans still argue over it. Although the debate is going to be settled once and for all with the forthcoming sequel.
