10 Massively Hyped 2017 Movies That Will Definitely Disappoint
2. Fast 8
The seventh offering from the street racing / heist / soap opera-esque franchise was met with a lot of critical praise and audience adulation. The film dealt with the untimely death of Paul walker with real emotion and genuine class and should be applauded for that, however this factor arguably played a huge part in the films warm reception in the first place.
The franchise's quality dipped earlier in its run until it was rectified by Fast 5 and the introduction of Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs, but Fast 8 looks to be where the next dip will begin.
Not much is known about the plot yet apart from the return of Jason Statham's villain along with Kurt Russell's government agent and word is that this will be the film that kicks off the...brace yourself...Fast & Furious shared universe. There will be heist spin-offs and spy spin-offs aplenty once Fast 8 is used as nothing more than a springboard to push the franchise even further, undoubtedly sacrificing the film's individual worth in the process.
Not to mention macabre conversations about bringing Paul Walker back via CGI, Fast 8 is bound to be running on empty.
