It's a shame there won't be a Carter presence in Infinity War since Captain America has strong ties to that family. Peggy died in Civil War and Emily VanCamp, the actress who plays her great niece Sharon, has ruled herself out of Avengers 3.
Sharon Carter's omission makes sense from a certain point of view. She's a CIA agent and the threat Thanos is about to pose will be far greater than anything she has the capacity to deal with. Shoehorning her in as a love interest for Cap seems pointless.
VanCamp told Deadline that she wasn't invited back for Infinity War after playing a key role in Civil War, but stopped short of saying she's done with the MCU. "With Marvel, they can give you a call the day before you shoot. You don’t know what’s going on with their movies because they’re very secretive,” she said.
At one point, the possibility of her reprising her role for the Agents of SHIELD TV series was raised, but her commitments to Fox's The Resident are believed to have scuppured that.
