10 MCU Moments Better Than Their Comic Origin

Star-Lord (Chris Pratt)'s parentage in the MCU greatly differs from its comics origin and as a result, it is more tragic and cosmic.

Both iterations' mothers are named Meredith Quill and their deaths are the result of their lovers (directly or indirectly) but that's where the similarities end. Comics Meredith lived to see Peter reach adulthood, only to be killed by a warrior alien race known as the Badoon. These beings were hunting J'son of Spartax, comics Star-Lord's father. Her film counterpart died of terminal cancer induced by her paramour and father of her child, Ego the Living Planet.

Both iterations of the hero's father were villainous in nature but Ego really took the cake in heinous and disturbing acts. In addition to killing Meredith, he murdered a countless number of his children that did not possess his Celestial genes and set out to consume numerous worlds, forcing Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians to kill him, but at the cost of the life of Star-Lord's other father figure, Yondu.

The character's parentage in the MCU is weightier, more complex and messier than the more standard origin found in the comics.
