There's blatant, and then there's just shameless, and Spiderman Homecoming left all of its shame bleeding out on the side of a dirt road in the middle of nowhere Texas looooong ago.

Yes, there is an argument to be made for what era of high-school movies Homecoming specifically takes cues from, but if you are at all familiar with, for instance, the movies John Hughes, Amy Heckerling, or Cameron Crowe were making around that time, then the examples speak for themselves.

You name it, a trope of that era of high-school movies is there. The wacky sidekick who exists to make the hero look good, the cute girlfriend with no other narrative job than to be the cute girlfriend, the cute girlfriend's antagonistic (literally in this case) father. The climax of this film takes place partly at a school dance, for crying out loud.

Now, this definitely works in its favor, of course. In a part of the MCU where many argue that the movies started to blend together, the grounded high-school setting gave Homecoming a unique look and feel apart from the other movies. But nonetheless, it is the most blatant of all the MCU movies in terms of what other movies it's taking cues from.
