4. Captain Marvel And Shang-Chi Will Team Up

Shang-Chi is set to make his debut in Phase 4 in a movie that has been rumoured not to link a great deal to the wider MCU. Those rumours surely cannot be true, because we can't meet the real Mandarin without some reference to the fake one and the Ten Rings terrorist organisation, can we?

Anyway, seemingly further corroborating the links between this movie and what came before, one rumour suggests that director Destin Daniel Cretton will once again be reunited with frequent collaborator Brie Larson in Shang-Chi as Captain Marvel could appear. Cretton expressed his interest in using Larson and naturally that kicked off the speculation, but it wouldn't be unprecedented.

In the comics - specifically Hickman’s Avengers #11 from 2013, Shang-Chi teams up with Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Spider-Woman and Sunspot and Cannonball from the New Mutants in a traditional spy caper. That would certainly be a hell of a swerve, but it wouldn't be completely illogical with Marvel needing to make sure Shang-Chi has a means to tie to other films (there's no way they introduce a wholly stand-alone film at this stage) as well as helping the marketing with a Brie Larson-shaped boost.
