9. What Happened To The Leader?
Though often viewed as the black sheep of the family when looking back at the ever-expanding MCU's early history, The Incredible Hulk did at least offer up a few interesting narrative possibilities that left many fans curious as to what the future could hold for Bruce Banner within this bold new world.
As we now know, The Hulk's compelling MCU arc would actually play out as part of some of Marvel Studios' many other top billed star's solo and ensemble outings, leaving that aforementioned standalone with more than a few loose ends. What in the world happened to a Banner-blood-exposed Samuel Sterns, eventually known as The Leader, in particular had ranked highly in most MCU die-hard's list of unresolved twists... that was until a certain comic spilled some of the beans.
During The Avengers Prelude: Fury's Big Week comic, Sterns bumps into none other than Black Widow whilst still in a rather enlarged-headed state. After attempting to get in her head, the then-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent fires off a bullet into his leg before handing the increasingly mad lad over to her superiors.
With his skin growing more greener by the day, all signs still point to Sterns being locked in a tank somewhere...
