Few will ever be able to forget the emphatic way Chadwick Boseman announced himself on the MCU scene during 2016's enthralling Civil War. Fresh off of his father and King of Wakanda T'Chaka being a fatal casualty during an attack from a brainwashed Bucky, T'Challa assumes his now-iconic Black Panther guise and sets about trying to avenge his father's passing.

But with Black Panther's eventual solo outing revealing that the mantle of The Black Panther is usually only passed down in the wake of the death of the previous iteration, many were quick to point out how strange it was that T'Challa was able to fully step into the Black Panther role so soon after his daddy's death. Did he just always walk around with some Heart-Shaped herb in his jeans?

Once again being unearthed in another prelude comic for Black Panther, it was revealed that T'Challa had already been strutting his stuff as The Black Panther for around a decade. It was actually around the time Tony Stark first donned the Iron Man suit that T'Challa was tasked with protecting Wakanda using these sacred gifts, reinforcing why he was already such a badass by the time of Civil War.
