6. My Name Is Bruce

The Final Girls
Dark Horse Entertainment

Because Bruce Campbell has been a legend in the B-Movie circuit for the last 40 years, it was only a matter of time before the Evil Dead star directed a movie where he plays a person many regard to be the greatest hero in horror... himself.

In My Name Is Bruce, the beloved actor has fallen on hard times due to alcoholism, an ugly divorce, and bad business deals. While working on a crappy indie called Cave Alien II, Bruce accidentally awakens the Chinese god of the dead and his army. Believing the zombie invasion is part of the film (despite the lack of cameras,) Bruce agrees to battle the demonic forces, unknowingly taking the role of a hero in real life for once.

My Name Is Bruce may be one giant self-reference, but it rarely goes for the easy gag. Although viewers are waiting for Bruce to whip out his iconic chainsaw, he completely dismisses the weapon, pointing out it's impracticality in battle.

My Name Is Bruce isn't just a love-letter to Bruce Campbell's career, but to the entire industry. Anyone who's fan of horror and B-movies should get a kick out of this underrated flick.
