10 Military Characters That Make National Service Look Terrifying

4. Second Lieutenant Dan Taylor (Gary Sinise) - Forrest Gump (1993)

colonel dan Despite what Saving Private Ryan suggests, you probably won't go the way of Private Mellish. You'll make it through training, you'll endure the fighting and then your tour will come to an end. Unfortunately, war movie logic says you might not make it to the finish line unharmed. Forrest Gump€™s Lt. Taylor is one of many movie soldiers physically ruined by war, rendered a €œcripple€ after moronical man-kid Tom Hanks saves his life, only to see Taylor become a bitter amputee. Being made disabled by battle is a worrying prospect for any man who might be forced to fight and, according to the movies, it happens all the time. Born on the Fourth of July€™s Ron Kovic is another prime example; apparently, even affable Tom Cruise can be left paralysed due to combat, with a €œdead penis€ and a madman€™s beard the only thanks he gets for diligently taking a bullet from the Vietcong.
